Ever wondered how to claim a digital copy of your own property? Don’t fret. Now you can even buy your own road in XR thanks to Spheroid Universe.
Spheroid Universe uses Augmented Reality (AR) technology to create digital surfaces of planet Earth. Then these surfaces are divided into multiple parcels called spaces, which are ERC-721 tokens with precise geographic coordinates. Buy the piece of land you want and the digital copy of the lot (or street) on that lot is yours.
Find your place in the Spheroid universe
Before we continue, remember that AR Augmented Reality, VR Virtual Reality and XR is a combination of AR and VR.
Remember we said that each room has its own geographic coordinates? This is especially true, as shown in a snapshot of Spheroid’s marketplace below. For example, the selected space coincides with a tourist destination, namely The Vessel at Manhattan. On the map we see a “P” mark on this space, which means someone has bought the digital lot and it is not currently for sale.
Note, however, that the owner only owns a digital copy of the ship and its surroundings, not the actual property of the ship itself. If you want to buy a room, find a vacant lot in your favorite location and buy it with $SPH, the native cryptocurrency of Spheroid Universe.
So what can we do with these digital plots? A lot. According to Spheroid Universe, companies can advertise their products or services in XR on Spaces. In fact, games and artwork can also be showcased on Spaces in XR. In addition, landowners can rent out their land for rental income. In the future, the launch of the Spheroid Universe app will allow us to observe these objects through smartphones, glasses and AR helmets.
Even as XR technology is gaining traction, not many Metaverse projects are taking advantage of it. For example, The Sandbox still uses 3D rendering, while Decentraland is at best VR compatible for now. The only problem with Spheroid Universe right now is the lack of collaboration with big brands. If they fix that, we should see Spheroid Universe making big hits soon.
