The incredible special effects and props studio Wētā Workshop enters the Metaverse. The team of design experts from Miramar, New Zealand are behind some of the most amazing film and television moments of all time. This includes the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which helped showcase the company’s brilliance to a global audience.

After three decades of revolutionizing the special effects industry, this unique, award-winning company joins the Metaverse.

This is a colossal name to enter the room and it will be interesting to see how they view the metaverse. Founded in 1987 by Richard Taylor & Tania Rodger, the Wētā Workshop team is one of the world’s most sought-after conceptual design specialists. The company has created iconic fixtures in film history including LOTR, Mad Max: Fury Road, Dune, Avatar, etc.

The special effects and concept design company is powered by the retro-futuristic steampunk series Dr. Enter Grordbort into the Metaverse. This wacky, satirical series ran from 2005 to 2008. Eventually, they collaborated with Wētā Workshop founder Richard Taylor, building on the lore and ecosystem.

Now enters Dr. Grordbort the Metaverse. In fact, there’s a whole Dr. Grordbort universe complete with movies, comics and physical figures. Significantly, Wētā Workshop is collaborating with FLUF World, the Metaverse ecosystem, to create a Dr. Build a Grordbort Raygun NFT Collection.

It’s unclear when the NFTs will go on sale, but some believe it’s around the corner on Twitter. One user, @beleevens, said: “We know it’s Airdrop April in @flufworld and @aaronmcdnz promised a few more inbound. So I’m speculating that @seekers_xyz and maybe all @flufworld & @partybearNFT Dr. Grordbort items and ray guns will be obtained.” Also, in the last few days, FLUF World has released a guide to owning one of these NFTs.

After all, this is the beginning of Wētā Workshop’s journey into the Metaverse, and it’s fascinating to see this innovative company joining the space.
