Gem, an NFT marketplace, has fired British Twitch streamer Josh Thompson aka MethodJosh. He was only part of the Gem.xyz team under a pseudonym so no one on the team knew who he really was as he had already been subjected to these allegations and didn’t reveal his real name to the people on the Gem team.

About the firing of MethodJosh
The NFT marketplace startup recently removed a core developer. The developer, known only as Neso to Gem’s employees, was also a major shareholder in the company.
The removal came after allegations of sexual misconduct were investigated. Josh Thompson, or MethodJosh as he is better known, was confirmed to be the person.
Thompson was a World of Warcraft streamer using Joshpriest and MethodJosh’s handles. Many victims accused him of multiple sex offenses in 2020.
The company stated on its Discord that it was not aware of any of these allegations as the team works entirely remotely and “Neso” was an anonymous developer, which is common in the NFT and crypto space. After discovering and verifying these allegations, they immediately removed Neso from the team.
Despite his professional pseudonymity, a business newspaper filed in Singapore, where Gem was incorporated, carried the Thompson name. The UK-based developer is also a major shareholder. He was allotted 16,408 shares in the company – the equivalent of the group’s co-founders Huculak and Vaibhav Saini.
No further details about MethodJosh’s exit from the company have been publicly disclosed.
