The official Lacoste Discord is the latest major NFT community server to be attacked by hackers. The hack targeted Discord members by giving them the opportunity to see their NFT early. However, if they clicked on the link, the scammers would have been given complete control over their crypto wallets. Today the Lacoste Discord has confirmed that the threat is no longer present and is investigating the incident.

Lacoste Discord Hack follows a similar cheating pattern
Lacoste, the iconic French fashion brand, has established a presence on web3 and recently launched an NFT project called “UNDW3”. The official Lacoste Discord is very active with over 83,000 members and the scammers have chosen to target them because of their size.
In an announcement on Discord this morning, the admin said: “The hacker posted a deceptive link to a mock UNDW3 website with a fake Mint Reveal link where users were asked to sign a transaction. As a result, her assets were transferred to the scammer’s wallet. As soon as the hack was discovered, we removed all advertisements and malicious accounts from the server.”
It seems like Lacoste followed the security protocol on their discord. Although they believe one of their moderator tokens has been compromised, Lacoste has promised to investigate. But as we know, all it takes is a small mistake, and the hackers are in.
Discord continues to face attacks
It seems like Discord is still a major target for hackers. Due to the number of people on each server, this is a great way to target multiple people at once. Always be careful which links you click on. If you are not sure if the link is legitimate, avoid it.
