Do you remember the once beloved HTC smartphones? Well, here’s the good news: HTC is making a comeback with a Metaverse phone. HTC recently teased the launch of its Metaverse phone on Twitter. The phone, which will be released under the Viverse brand by HTC, is scheduled to launch on June 28th. So let’s take a closer look at HTC’s new Metaverse phone!

About the HTC Metaverse phone
HTC first hinted at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in March this year that it would launch a Metaverse phone. The news drew mixed reactions from the company’s smartphone fans. As we know, HTC had dropped the curtain on its smartphone business in 2018.
However, it has continued to release mid-range phones, the last being the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G released in 2021. While the company was supposed to launch the Metaverse phone sooner, supply chain issues delayed the launch.
At the moment there is not much information about the HTC Metaverse phone. On June 9, the company simply posted an image that read, “Log in to the future. 6/28/2022.” Additionally, the details on the phone’s specs and features are yet to be shared.
It is currently speculated that the phone will be a limited edition. It’s also likely to only be available in select markets.
What is Viverse?
At this year’s MWC, HTC announced Viverse, its take on the Metaverse. According to the Taiwanese company, Viverse is “an interoperable ecosystem in which different content platforms are connected to create a seamless user experience in a decentralized, secure and open manner”.
To explain, Viverse allows users to socialize, hold meetings and much more in virtual reality. Based on the image HTC shared on Twitter, its upcoming Metaverse phone will likely integrate with Viverse. It remains to be seen how the company will carry out its ambitious plans.
