A report released by Globant, an Argentine software company, found that people feel the metaverse is close and accessible to them. The report, titled “How the Metaverse is Transcending Digital Boundaries and Reinventing Our Place in the Physical World,” found that 73% of those surveyed perceived the metaverse as accessible, but only 26% had experienced metaverse.

Metaverse perceived as accessible, found globally

The metaverse and its technology have become popular topics for companies to research and learn how people perceive this new sector. A recent report by Globant, an Argentine software company, found that people actually feel a lot closer to the Metaverse than experts are letting on.

The document, titled “How the Metaverse is Transcending Digital Boundaries and Reinventing Our Place in the Physical World,” surveyed the opinions of 834 members of the Globant database of technology experts from around the world. The report found that 73% of respondents believe the metaverse is accessible to them, even with all the accessory technology needed to create this alternate world. However, only 26.5% of them reported having had Metaverse experiences.

Diego Tártara, Chief Technology Officer at Globant, stated:

In its infancy, the Metaverse challenges corporations to prepare their businesses for this new world. As they bring their business into this new reality, their users are simultaneously learning to embrace this new era.

Inclusive and crucial for remote work

Another finding of the report has to do with the target market that Metaverse apps are targeting. While the technology associated with Metaverse apps is based on virtual reality hardware, respondents believe the industry isn’t just targeting the young audience. 75% responded that the Metaverse appeals to all generations.

The report also provided insight into the importance of Metaverse technologies for the future of remote work. Respondents were very optimistic about including the metaverse for remote work, with 69% believing the metaverse plays a critical role in this application. Remote working became a trend during the days of the Covid-19 pandemic and now several companies are considering keeping it as part of their planning strategy.

One of Globant’s co-founders recently stated that he thinks companies should take emerging technologies like crypto, the Metaverse, and NFTs more seriously.
